Miss Texas to Speak at Angelo State’s ‘Girl Power’ Event

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - Angelo State University's regional office of the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women's Health will host its 11th annual "Girl Power: Girls in Real Life," an event designed to empower young girls and the women in their lives, on Saturday, Feb. 1, in the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive.

The free event is open to 3rd - 5th grade girls and their mothers, or other important women in their lives, and will run from 3-5 p.m. in the University Center's C.J. Davidson Conference Center. The program will include a presentation by Miss Texas 2024, Annette Addo-Yobo, as well as a panel discussion by local women on what it means to be "Girls in Real Life."

Panel members will include:

  • Maddi Parrish - ASU Volleyball Player
  • Michelle Miller, J.D. - ASU General Counsel
  • Teri Gould - Principal of Glenmore Elementary School
  • Dr. Genevieve Pfluger - OB/GYN at Shannon Medical Center
  • Whitney Smith - Entrepreneur and Owner of Partied Up Rentals

Attendees will also participate in fun break-out sessions on various topics, including improving self-esteem, activity level, nutrition, internet safety and communication with their peers. The event will also include gift bags, snacks, prizes, free photos and much more.

There is no cost to attend the event, but pre-registration is requested through the online form on the ASU website.
