South Chadbourne Crash Temporarily Closes Roadway

SAN ANGELO, TX — A two-vehicle collision on South Chadbourne Street at Avenue R temporarily shut down access to one of the main roadways that head to Goodfellow Air Force Base on Saturday evening.

The crash occurred shortly after 8 p.m., prompting a response from the San Angelo Police Department and the San Angelo Fire Department. Two individuals were transported to Shannon Medical Center with injuries sustained in the crash.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a black Chevrolet sedan had stopped while attempting a left turn onto Avenue R, waiting for oncoming traffic to clear. A small SUV traveling behind the sedan failed to stop in time and collided with it from the rear.

The two occupants of the sedan were transported to the hospital for medical attention. The driver of the SUV was uninjured and remained at the scene. Authorities said that the SUV driver received a citation for failure to control speed.

The crash briefly disrupted traffic but the scene was cleared, and the roadway was reopened later that evening.
