LAREDO, TX - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized over $7 million worth of methamphetamine and cocaine in two separate enforcement actions at Texas ports of entry this week, officials announced Wednesday.
The largest bust occurred on Dec. 16 at the Colombia-Solidarity Bridge in Laredo, where officers discovered 757 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in a shipment of water for painting. The narcotics, valued at nearly $7 million, were uncovered during a secondary inspection using CBP canines and physical examination.
In a separate operation at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry on the same day, CBP officers seized over $372,000 worth of cocaine. The drugs, weighing nearly 28 pounds, were concealed in the fenders and rocker panels of a 2021 Jeep Renegade driven by a 26-year-old female Mexican citizen. A secondary inspection utilizing canine and non-intrusive systems led to the discovery. Homeland Security Investigations agents arrested the driver and her 24-year-old passenger and launched a criminal investigation.
CBP seized the narcotics and the vehicle in Eagle Pass, as well as the methamphetamine at the Colombia-Solidarity Bridge.
