Concho Valley PAWS Warns Against Potential Cuts to Animal Shelter Programs

SAN ANGELO, TX - Concho Valley PAWS has issued an urgent call to action ahead of the San Angelo City Council meeting on Dec. 3, where animal shelter programs will be under review.

The meeting, set for 8:30 a.m. at the McNease Convention Center, will include discussions that could impact the shelter’s lifesaving initiatives.

According to PAWS, the proposed changes could eliminate programs that have reduced euthanasia rates and improved animal welfare at the shelter. The organization warns that rolling back these initiatives may increase unnecessary euthanasia, potentially returning the facility to a high-kill shelter status.

“Public support is critical to ensuring that San Angelo continues to prioritize humane practices and animal welfare,” PAWS said in a statement.

The organization is asking residents to attend the meeting or contact their district representatives to voice support for maintaining these programs.
