Pedestrian Killed in Odessa Hit-and-Run; Driver, Alleged Accomplice Charged

 

ODESSA, TX — An 18-year-old driver was charged after a fatal hit-and-run crash killed a pedestrian in Odessa early Oct. 27.

Jose Contreras, of Midland, was driving a black 2016 Dodge Challenger westbound on Everglade before turning south onto Bellaire when his vehicle left the roadway, striking 25-year-old Alex Bingham, of Odessa, police reported.

Contreras allegedly left the scene without rendering aid and later abandoned his vehicle. Bingham was transported to Medical Center Hospital, where he died on Oct. 30. His next of kin have been notified.

Following an investigation, Contreras faces charges of Collision Involving Death (Felony 2) and Intoxication Assault (Felony 2). Additionally, Nadia Trevino, 24, was charged with furnishing alcohol to a minor, a state jail felony. The investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
