SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State University football team extended its winning streak to five games with a 44-7 win over Midwestern State on Saturday in Wichita Falls.
The Rams’ defense was outstanding again and didn’t allow a touchdown until there was 2:11 remaining. ASU has given up a total of 14 points in its last four games.
ASU is now 5-2 overall and 5-0 in the Lone Star Conference. The Rams remain tied atop the LSC standings with Western Oregon, which beat UT Permian Basin 30-27 in overtime Saturday.
ASU will host Sul Ross State for homecoming at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field.
A 56-yard interception return to the 1-yard line by Xavier Walton set up ASU’s first score against Midwestern, and the Rams raced to a 34-0 halftime lead.
Quarterback Braeden Fuller was 15-of-19 passing for 164 yards and a TD. He also had six carries for 45 yards and a TD.
Cameron Dischler had nine carries for 43 yards and a TD, while Zeek Freeman turned one carry into a 20-yard score.
Anthony Jones had a 69-yard TD catch, and Hunter Wallis had four catches for 63 yards and a TD.
