SAN ANGELO, TX — Rain chances are set to increase starting Friday, bringing a potential break to the dry conditions that have led to heightened fire weather concerns across the region.

The cooler temperatures expected midweek will accompany these rain chances, with highs dropping to the upper 70s and low 80s by Wednesday and continuing through the weekend. San Angelo is expected to see a high of 77°F on Wednesday, followed by highs near 80°F into the weekend. Overnight lows will dip into the 50s, making for cooler evenings.

Despite the upcoming rain, fire weather concerns remain elevated through Tuesday due to dry fuels, low humidity levels of 15-20%, and above-normal temperatures in the low 90s. Winds from the south and southwest, gusting up to 15 mph, could exacerbate fire risks, especially in grassy areas. Authorities are urging residents to take precautions to prevent accidental fires by ensuring that vehicle chains are not dragging, avoiding outdoor burning, and refraining from discarding cigarettes in dry areas.

As the weekend approaches, the upper-level trough will bring increased moisture to the region, fueling the chances of scattered showers. However, no significant weather impacts are expected at this time.
