Early Voting for Nov. 5 General Elections Begins Oct. 21 in Texas

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - Early voting for the Nov. 5, 2024, general elections in Texas will start on Monday, Oct. 21, and run through Friday, Nov. 1. Key races include the presidential election, with former President Donald Trump and current Vice President Kamala Harris vying for the position.

In addition, a high-stakes U.S. Senate race between incumbent Ted Cruz and Democratic challenger Rep. Colin Allred will be on the ballot.

Several important local elections, including Tom Green County Commissioner seats and San Angelo ISD's Proposition A, are on the ballot. 

Important Election Dates:

  • Last day to register to vote: Monday, Oct. 7
  • First day of early voting: Monday, Oct. 21
  • Last day to apply for a mail-in ballot: Friday, Oct. 25
  • Last day of early voting: Friday, Nov. 1
  • Election Day: Tuesday, Nov. 5

Voting Requirements:

Voters are required to bring an acceptable form of identification to the polls. Acceptable IDs include Texas Driver’s Licenses, U.S. Passports, and military IDs. If a voter does not have any of the listed forms of ID, they may present alternative documents such as a utility bill or a government check, provided they show proof of the voter’s name and address.

Restrictions at Polling Places:

Under Texas law, the use of cell phones, cameras, or any wireless communication devices within 100 feet of voting stations is prohibited. Additionally, voters are not allowed to wear clothing or accessories that display any political affiliations or messages within the polling place.

For mail-in voting, voters aged 65 or older, those with disabilities, or individuals confined to jail are eligible to vote by mail. Mail-in ballots must be received by the close of polls on Election Day to be counted.
