ACKERLY, TX - A 3.2 magnitude earthquake struck West Texas late Wednesday, October 2, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The earthquake occurred around 9:45 p.m., about 20 miles southwest of Ackerly and north of Midland.
This marks the latest in a series of quakes to shake the region this year.
The recent tremor follows a larger 5.1 magnitude earthquake recorded last month, which was felt as far away as Austin. The September 16 quake was only the third in Texas to surpass a magnitude of 5.0 since 2017.
