SAN ANGELO, TX— A San Angelo woman has taken a plea deal for violently attacking a man.
Monica Soto, 41, of San Angelo, has taken a plea deal for Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon after beating and attacking a man.
According to court documents, on October 17, 2023, San Angelo police responded to the 2200 block of Woodlawn Drive regarding an unknown problem. On scene, police contacted the victim and a witness. They learned that two Rent-A-Center employees were at the residence to take property that belonged to Rent-A-Center.
Around 2:00 p.m. that day, Soto was contacted by Rent-A-Center employees and she responded to the location to take additional property. Soto did not have permission of either the victim or the witness to enter the residence but entered unlawfully anyway. She opened the front door then proceeded to take items from the house.
Due to Soto being inside the residence unlawfully, the victim removed her from the residence by picking her up and placing her outside. During this, Soto began to strike the victim in the face and kicking him. When Soto was outside, she continued to enter the property and pushed the victim back to prevent the door from being closed. Again, Soto began striking the victim in the face.
In exchange for a guilty plea, Soto was sentenced to 10 years-probation and had another charge for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon dismissed. Soto will also have to pay a fine of $2,500.
