Reagan County Man Arrested for Continuous Sexual Abuse of Child

BIG LAKE, TX — A 36-year-old man was arrested on a warrant for continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 following an investigation into a sexual assault report, the Reagan County Sheriff's Office reported.

Andrew Atilano Huerta was taken into custody Thursday by sheriff's investigators and booked into the Reagan County Jail, authorities said in a statement released Tuesday. The charge is a first-degree felony.

The investigation began earlier this year after a complainant was interviewed, leading to the issuance of the warrant, the sheriff's office said. Huerta, born Feb. 9, 1990, was on parole at the time of his arrest.

Authorities noted the potential for additional victims and urged anyone with information on this or other incidents involving sexual abuse to contact the sheriff's office at (325) 884-2424.

Huerta is a lifetime, moderate-risk level registered sex offender required to register annually, according to the statement.

Sheriff Jeff Garner emphasized the office's commitment to community safety and encouraged residents to check the Texas Department of Public Safety's statewide sex offender registration database at https://sor.dps.texas.gov.

The sheriff's office operates a 24/7 dispatch center for reports and an anonymous tip line on its website, www.reagancountysheriff.org.
