Santa Anna Woman Dies, 7-Year-Old Injured in U.S. 283 Crash

 

BAIRD, TX – A single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 283 near Baird claimed the life of a 37-year-old woman from Santa Anna, Texas, this Wednesday morning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. 

Brandi Deann Ross was driving a 2010 Ford Fusion southbound on U.S. 283 when she struck a deer, causing her vehicle to veer off the road and collide with a tree. The crash happened around 5:30 a.m., about 13 miles south of Baird in Callahan County.

Ross was transported to Hendrick Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased just after 12:40 p.m. by Dr. Woller.

It was reported that Ross was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

A 7-year-old female passenger, also from Santa Anna, was in the vehicle. She sustained minor injuries and was also taken to Hendrick Medical Center. The child was not wearing a seatbelt.

The weather was clear, and road conditions were dry at the time of the accident. The posted speed limit in the area is 75 mph.
