SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State women's tennis team earned the Lone Star Conference individual sport academic championship after recording a team GPA of 3.78, the highest among women’s tennis teams in the conference.
The member institution with the highest team GPA in each sport is named the Sport Academic Champion.
The Rambelles finished the season with a 21-4 record, defeating Cameron 4-2 in the South Central Regional to advance to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
The Belles were also named to the ITA All-Academic Team and set a program record with eight student-athletes being named to the ITA Scholar-Athlete list. To qualify as an ITA Scholar-Athlete, players must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the academic year. To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, the program must have a team GPA of at least 3.2.
Letizia Corsini was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Second Team. Corsini is one of two players from the LSC who earned Academic All-America honors and was the first Belles tennis player to achieve this recognition.
