Mason’s Iconic Puncher Dome to Have Different Look for 2024 Season

MASON, TX — Few stadiums in Texas are as beloved as Mason’s Puncher Dome, which has a unique look and history.

Formally known as R. Clinton Schulze Stadium, it was built in 1938 as a horse racetrack. A wooden grandstand is the stadium’s defining feature.

However, the stadium will have a very different look this season after the press box on the roof covering the home stands was damaged in a spring storm.

Mason ISD made the decision to remove the roof after the structure was deemed unsafe following an inspection. The plan is to rebuild the roof in time for the start of the 2025 season.

Deer blinds have been put in place to serve as temporary coaches’ booths this season.
