SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo is in for a sweltering weekend as temperatures are expected to soar well into the triple digits, according to the National Weather Service.
Today will set the tone, with a high of 103 degrees under mostly sunny skies. A south-southeast wind of 5 to 10 mph will offer little relief as the region braces for even hotter conditions.
A rangeland fire danger statement is also in effect for much of West Central Texas, as the heat has dried out the vegetation, bringing an increased potential for wind-driven grass fires, information from NWS stated.
Saturday’s high is predicted to reach 104 degrees, with similar wind conditions. The heat will peak on Sunday, with temperatures climbing to around 105 degrees, and winds shifting slightly to the south-southwest at 5 to 10 mph.
Overnight lows will remain warm, dipping only to the mid-to-upper 70s, providing little respite from the daytime heat.
The NWS warns that these extreme temperatures could persist into the middle of next week, with highs potentially reaching 110 degrees in some areas.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to stay cool, including staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and seeking air-conditioned environments.
