At approximately 6:30 a.m., the driver of a green Pontiac Grand Am crashed into the back of a 1951 gray Chevrolet heading southbound on Bell Street that had stopped to make a left turn onto Culberson Street, said Officer Mike Gesch with the San Angelo Police Department.
As the drivers exited both vehicles and stood on the right side of the road waiting for SAPD to show up, a driver of a maroon and white Mercury Grand Marquis slammed into the green Pontiac Grand Am.
“It was two different crashes. The driver [of the Grand Marquis] said it was still dark when it happened, and there were no lights on to give warning,” said Gesch about the second crash.

Gesch stated there’s a street light in the area and the driver was still required to stop; however, because of the circumstances, the driver of the Grand Marquis received only a warning for failure to control speed.
“As for the other driver of the green Pontiac, she’ll receive a citation for failing to control speed,” Gesch added.
The driver of the 51 Chevy, Jose Gomez, did receive minor injuries in the crash, but no one was taken to the hospital. Both accidents shut down the area for about 1 hour and 20 minutes, so officials had to detour northbound traffic.
