SAN ANGELO, TX — West Central Texas is facing another stretch of high heat combined with scattered thunderstorms over the next few days, according to the latest detailed forecast from the National Weather Service (NWS) in San Angelo.
Today, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m. The day will see increasing cloud cover, with temperatures soaring to a high of 101 degrees. Heat index values could make it feel as hot as 104 degrees. Winds will be light and variable, shifting to the east at 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.
The main hazards will be locally damaging winds and dangerous lightning.
Tonight, the 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms will persist until about 1 a.m. Expect mostly cloudy skies with a low of around 75 degrees. East winds of 5 to 10 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph, are expected.
Saturday will see thunderstorm chances increase slightly to 30 percent after 1 p.m. It will be another hot day, with highs near 99 degrees and heat index values reaching up to 103 degrees. Winds will be calm in the morning, becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.
On Saturday night the skies will be partly cloudy, with temperatures dipping to a low of around 76 degrees. Southeast winds will remain light, at 5 to 10 mph.
Then on Sunday, the heat continues with sunny skies and a high near 101 degrees. South winds will blow at 5 to 10 mph, providing little relief from the heat.
