SAN ANGELO, TX - The National Weather Service has released a forecast predicting potentially record-breaking temperatures in San Angelo and Abilene this week.
Forecasts predict that both cities will experience highs reaching up to 108 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday, potentially tying or surpassing previous records.
Today, residents in San Angelo can expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies with isolated to scattered showers and storms in the afternoon. The high temperature for today is forecasted to reach 100 degrees, with light and variable winds.
The expected highs in San Angelo for the rest of the week are as follows:
- Monday: 101°F
- Tuesday: 103°F
- Wednesday: 108°F
- Thursday: 108°F
- Friday: 103°F
Abilene’s forecast mirrors San Angelo’s with slight variations, also peaking at 108 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday.
Residents are advised to take precautions against the extreme heat. The National Weather Service recommends staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activities between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., wearing lightweight clothing, and staying in air-conditioned environments whenever possible.
The heat wave is expected to bring mostly sunny skies with southeast winds of 5 to 10 mph. Morning lows will range from the low to mid-70s, providing little relief from the daytime heat.
Heat safety tips include taking breaks in the shade when working outdoors, checking on the elderly and those without air conditioning, never leaving children or pets in vehicles, and limiting strenuous outdoor activities.
