ARLINGTON, TX — Better late than never, the Texas Rangers are playing their best baseball of the season right now.
After a sluggish start to their World Series title defense, the Rangers have won 11 of their last 15 games to surge back into contention.
They are rapidly approaching in the Houston Astros' rearview mirror
Heading into Thursday afternoon's game with the Chicago White Sox, the Rangers (50-52) were just three games behind the rival Astros for first place in the American League West standings.
A three-game series against Houston looms Aug. 5-7 in Arlington.
Before that, the Rangers will have to navigate a six-game road trip to Toronto (46-55) and St. Louis (53-49). Both teams are beatable, but the Rangers are only 22-29 on the road this season.
