SAN ANGELO, TX — Angelo State men's basketball head coach Vinay Patel announced on Friday, July 19, the addition of Phil Dotson, a combo guard from Memphis, Tennessee, as the team's third transfer of the summer.
Dotson, a guard listed at 6'0", joins Angelo State from Division III Rhodes College. Last season, he averaged 22.3 points and 4.3 assists per game while shooting 36 percent from behind the arc. He scored a career-high 44 points on 17-of-34 shooting against Oglethorpe on February 4 last season.
"We are excited to add Phil to the roster for the upcoming year," Patel said. "He is a dynamic guard that will fit right in with our style of play. Phil does a great job of getting to the paint and making the right play. He has delivered for his past teams in huge moments, and his experience should be valuable for our program."
Dotson was named to the All-SAA First Team last season and led the Lynx to a Cinderella run in the conference tournament, advancing to the finals as the seventh seed.
The Rams currently have four 2024-25 signees and three this summer alone.

- Kaden Evans, Grad. Student, 6'4" - Emporia State
- Damonze Woods, Junior, 6'7" - Odessa College

"Our entire staff enjoyed getting to know Phil and his family throughout the recruiting process," Patel added. "We are excited he chose to come to Angelo State and can't wait to get him in the Blue and Gold this upcoming year!"
