Runnels County Sheriffs Issue Scam Alert

RUNNELS COUNTY, TX—The Runnels County Sheriff's Office posted on its Facebook page on Tuesday warning residents around the area that an ongoing scam is in progress.

"We have had reports of someone making calls pretending to be a Runnels County Deputy," the post read. "This person is requesting payment of a fine before a warrant is issued for your arrest. The number calling actually shows the Runnels County Sheriff's Office number."

The RCSO said that the Sheriff's Office will never ask for payments or fines and urged citizens to ignore this potential scam call.
