Illegal Immigrants Arrested After Traffic Stop Uncovers 20 Stolen Catalytic Converters, Gun

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — Two people identified as being in the country illegally were arrested after a traffic stop in Kimble County led to the discovery of about 20 stolen catalytic converters and a handgun, according to the Kimble County Sheriff’s Office.

The stop occurred around 5 p.m. Dec. 14 on Interstate 10 near mile marker 470 while a deputy was conducting traffic enforcement. During a search of the vehicle, deputies found the catalytic converters concealed inside, the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities also located a 9 mm handgun during the search.

The sheriff’s office said both suspects were identified as Honduran nationals who had entered the United States illegally. U.S. Border Patrol was contacted and confirmed the illegal entry, according to the statement.

Both suspects are being held in the Kimble County Jail. Additional details on charges were not immediately released.
