Gladiator II Trailer Drops Online

HOLLYWOOD, CA — Gladiator II has dropped its first trailer online.

The original Gladiator and Blade Runner director, Ridley Scott, returns to Rome with Gladiator 2.

The first trailer for Scott’s Gladiator II has been released online, and it looks to continue the story of the first Gladiator movie released 24 years ago.

Gladiator II takes place 20 years after the events of the first film, where Russell Crowe’s Maximus, defeats Joaquin Phoenix’s Commodus, in the Colsseum, but also dies. The new film will follow Lucius, played by up-and-coming Paul Mescal, has he prepares for revenge against the Roman Empire.

Lucius is from the original film, played by Spencer Treat Clark, and was the son of Lucilla, played by Connie Nielsen, who returns for Gladiator II.

Legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott of course returns in the director’s chair and has a fantastic cast of established movie stars and new talent.

The cast includes:

  • Paul Mescal (Aftersun, Normal People) as Lucius Verus
  • Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian, The Last of Us) as Marcus Acacius
  • Connie Nielsen (Wonder Woman, The Devil’s Advocate) as Lucilla
  • Denzel Washington (Training Day, Remember the Titans) as Macrinus
  • Derek Jacobi (The King’s Speech, Murder on the Orient Express) as Senator Gracchus
  • Joseph Quinn (A Quiet Place: Day One, Stranger Things) as Emperor Geta
  • Fred Hechinger (The Pale Blue Eye, Fear Street Saga) as Emperor Caracalla

Of those actors, Nielsen and Jacobi both portrayed the same character in the original Gladiator.

Gladiator II fights its way into theaters on November 22, 2024.
