RICHARDSON, TX — Angelo State University's Laura Klimova and Rance Rosas recently received the Lone Star Conference (LSC) Scholar-Athlete awards. The LSC released the list on Monday morning, June 24.
Each academic year, the LSC presents a Scholar-Athlete Award to one male and one female student-athlete from each institution who is part of the graduating class. The award recognizes outstanding achievements in scholarship, athletics, and leadership. To be eligible, honorees must have participated in their sport for at least two years.
Klimova, a graduate student from Prague, Czechia, studying Counseling Psychology, completed her final season with the Angelo State women's golf team with a sixth-place finish at the Top of Texas Invitational in March. She led the Rambelles in scoring twice this season.
Rosas, a Health Science major from San Angelo, was a key player for the Rams baseball team, contributing to their back-to-back appearances in the national championship finals. He played a significant role in the team's National Championship win last season and was the NCAA Division II Elite 90 award winner in 2023, an honor given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA at the national championship.
Both Klimova and Rosas also received the Angelo State Athletic Academic Excellence Awards in late April at the Holland's Banquet, further highlighting their exceptional academic and athletic achievements.
