Angelo State Beats Top Seeded Central Missouri Mules at DII NCAA Championship Tournament

 

CARY, NC— The eight seeded Angelo State Rams have beaten the top seeded Central Missouri Mules in extra innings.

The defending National Champion ASU Rams, went into the 2024 D-II NCAA Championship Tournament as the eighth seed, have upset the number one seeded Central Missouri Mules in the opening round, 3-2.

Into the top of the third inning, the game still 0-0, the Rams took a 1-0 lead only for the Mules to score two runs in the bottom of the third. Late in the game, the Rams tied it up with a Tayten Tredaway hit to bring in Christian Garnette to tie the game at 2-2.

The game went into extra inning tied up and in the top of the 11th, the Rams took a 3-2 lead off a single by Garnette and finished off the Mules there and advancing to the winner’s bracket.

ASU (8) will play Point Loma (4) on Monday, June 3, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.
