SAN ANGELO, TX — The annual "Back the Badge" Sporting Clay Shoot is scheduled for April 13th.
The tournament will be held at the San Angelo Claybird Association at 13525 Duncan Rd, in San Angelo. Registration starts at 8 a.m., and the shooting begins at 9:30 a.m. to noon.
This is an event dedicated to raising funds for the San Angelo Police Department and Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office,
Founded in 2019, the San Angelo Back the Badge initiative was launched with the backing of San Angelo Chief of Police Frank Carter and Tom Green County Sheriff David Jones.
The event is organized by a Board of Directors composed of community members and agency employees. Its goal is to support law enforcement efforts throughout Tom Green County, Texas.
The sporting clays tournament has become a funding source for the participating departments, enabling them to upgrade their facilities and equipment. In 2020, San Angelo Back the Badge achieved 501c3 status, allowing it to receive charitable tax deductions supporting its mission.
For the April 13 event, participants can expect a morning filled with competitive clay shooting, followed by lunch, door prizes, gun boards, and auction items.
The single-rotation shoot will be a day of sportsmanship and an opportunity for community members to contribute to the welfare of local law enforcement.
