Wall Boys Debut in State Basketball Rankings

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Wall Hawks made their first appearance in the Class 3A boys state basketball rankings this season at No. 20 on Monday.

Wall is off to a 13-3 start this season, which includes a pair of wins over state-ranked teams last weekend. The Hawks defeated No. 12 Ponder 48-44 and No. 24 Peaster 54-31.

Wall went 18-15 last season and lost in the first round of the playoffs, but the Hawks are poised to far surpass that win total this season.

Wall still hasn’t added Jager Thompson, Landon York and Dylan Sellers from the football team, which is preparing to play in the state championship Thursday against Newton.

Wall’s next game is at home at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday against Abilene High.

The only other Concho Valley school in the state rankings is Water Valley, which is ranked No. 15 in Class 1A. The Wildcats will play their season opener at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday against Christoval.
