SAN ANGELO, TX — The No. 11 Angelo State Rams Baseball team returns home for another Lone Star Conference series matchup this weekend. This time, a pivotal matchup against Lubbock Christian with serious Conference implications is on the table.
Last weekend, the Rams traveled to San Antonio, where Angelo State took 3 out of 4 games from St. Mary’s on the road. Jacob Guerrero had an outstanding weekend, as he collected 11 RBIs throughout the weekend. That performance garnered him LSC Hitter of the Week honors announced by the Conference earlier this week. Added to that honor, the NCAA then named him the South Central Region’s Hitter of the Week on Wednesday. The Rams’ All-American has truly come into his own now this season and should be an asset against Lubbock Christian.
Head Coach Kevin Brooks talked about Guerrero, the Rams’ performance against St. Mary’s, and what he expects from Lubbock Christian at his weekly press conference held on Monday at the Junell Center. Check out the press conference below:
The Rams (19-9) currently sit in third place in the LSC standings behind West Texas A&M (18-6) and Lubbock Christian (17-7). The four-game series beginning on Friday, March 22, could spell the difference between climbing one or maybe even two spots in the standings with enough wins. However, it will not be an easy task as Lubbock Christian sports the most explosive offense in the league. The Eagles lead the LSC in multiple team batting categories, including batting average (.345), triples (23), and home runs (38).
Game 1 between the Rams and Eagles is set for Friday night, March 22, at Foster Field. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m.
