Upsets and Revenge in Crazy Rounds of Texas Playoffs

 

SAN ANGELO, TX— It was revenge week in the Texas High School Football Playoffs as 20 of the 42 games being played were rematches from earlier in the season.

Don’t get mad, get even.

It was a crazy weekend for Texas High School football. Nearly half of the games played were revenge games and of the 20 rematches, 10 were won by the team that lost during the regular season.

The 20 games were:

  • Water Valley 68 – Rankin 20
  • Muenster 49 – Lindsay 28
  • Stratford 40 – Gruver 27
  • San Augustine 28 – Joaquin 21
  • Tidehaven 59 – East Bernard 6
  • Wall 35 – Idalou 21
  • Gunter 44 – Leonard 0
  • Columbus 28 – Yoakum 10
  • Paradise 21 – Peaster 15
  • Cuero 56 – Sinton 55
  • Waco La Vega 44 – West Orange-Stark 20
  • Carthage 61 – Athens 56
  • Boerne 37 – Alamo Heights 35
  • Richmond Randle 49 – Iowa Colony 42
  • Smithson Valley 27 – New Braunfels 14
  • Aledo 15 – Denton Ryan 14
  • Dripping Springs 41 – Austin Vandegrift 29
  • Sheldon C.E. King 42 – Humble Summer Creek 28
  • Waxahachie 28 – Duncanville 27

10 teams got revenge:

Now that the 1A State Semifinals and the State Quarterfinals are over, the playoff picture is clearing up even more.
