The Junior League of San Angelo is seeking your help to determine San Angelo’s next big need. The local women’s organization will begin accepting applications to determine its next project or projects to help strengthen the community.
Junior League of San Angelo (JLSA) has been the catalyst for starting some of San Angelo’s largest and most impactful non-profit initiatives including the West Texas Rehab Audiological Suite, Hospice, and the Well Baby Clinic of 1957. As an organization, the league strives to fill needs within the community and match those projects with existing organizations to sustain the programs long-term. Over the past 57 years, JLSA has developed 26 legacy programs, many of which are still actively managed by other local entities today.
Over the past seven years, JLSA has partnered with the Concho Valley Food Bank to create, implement, and manage the Food 2 Kids program, which feds over 620 SAISD students who have qualified for the free or reduced lunch program each week. These students are sent home with food for the weekend to ensure they are fed when the schools are not able to provide for them. This program has successfully been transitioned to be managed by the Concho Valley Food Bank, so we can start a new project for the community.
The Junior League will begin accepting applications from local non-profits, community leaders and citizens to determine what JLSA can do for San Angelo. Applications can be obtained at the Junior League Office in The Cactus Hotel, 36 E. Twohig Ave. Ste. 100, San Angelo, TX 76904 and online at www.sajuniorleague.com. Applications for potential projects will be accepted through Monday, September 1. For questions about the Junior League of San Angelo or about this initiative, please call (325) 655-9866.
