Rams Basketball Close '23-'24 Season

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State Rams basketball team saw their season end over the weekend at the hands of West Texas A&M at the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Tournament last Saturday. Although the Rams lost in the end, this group of young men overcame adversity over and over again this season to make it to back-to-back NCAA Regional Tournaments.

Head Coach Vinay Patel held his final weekly press conference this season at the Junell Center on Monday to discuss the Regional tournament loss and the season as a whole. Check out the final press conference below:

Angelo State finished this season with a 19-11 overall record and 14-8 in conference play. At one point, the Rams hit a four-game losing streak that guaranteed that ASU would struggle to make the postseason. However, the Rams went on to win every game they needed to down the stretch to not only make the Lone Star Conference tournament but also the NCAA Regional Tournament.

The Rams say goodbye to Seniors Kevon Godwin, Willie Guy, Barlow Alleruzzo IV, and DJ Basey, graduate students Trey Farrer and Keyshawn Embery-Simpson, and leading scorer Keyshawn Embery-Simpson.

Overall, the Rams had a season to be proud of, and they have plenty to build on in the coming seasons. Angelo State graduates six key players this off-season but returns several others that the program can continue to build. ASU returns Kendrick Delahoussaye, DJ Freeman, Chris Boekhorst, Carvell Teasett, Everson Armstrong, BJ Anderson, Shemar Smith, and Jacob Richardson. The Rams also added a signing earlier this year in Central Bobcats’ Kollin Allbright.
