SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State Rams and Rambelles are preparing for their final Lone Star Conference regular season matchups this week. The Rams and Belles travel to Odessa on Thursday to play the University of Texas Permian Basin. The Belles then host UTPB in San Angelo on Saturday.
Both teams split their weekend series last Thursday and Saturday. On Thursday, the Rams fell to No. 8 Dallas Baptist, 85-73, on the road before claiming a dominant win over UT Tyler, 64-47, on Saturday. Injuries continue to concern the Rams as this up-and-down season winds down, but several positives from last week will help the Rams in the postseason.
Head Coach Vinay Patel gave his thoughts on the state of Rams’ Basketball at his weekly press conference at the Junell Center on Monday, February 26. Check out the full press conference below:
Angelo State currently sports an 18-9 overall record (13-8 LSC) with one more conference game remaining. Patel said his team played with desperation last week in the win over UT Tyler, and his team needs that same intensity this weekend against UTPB. Tip-off against the Falcons is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, in Odessa.
The Belles lost a close matchup to Texas Women’s last Thursday before the ladies bounced back in a big way when they ended UT Tyler’s 27-game home win streak on the road. At her weekly press conference at the Junell Center on Monday, Head Coach Alesha Ellis talked about the drive it takes to stay consistent and commented on how proud she was of her team to bounce back against UT Tyler after the tough loss to Texas Women’s.
