BIG SPRING— The Christoval Lady Cougars overcame a late game deficit to march to victory over the Sundown Roughnettes, 48-44, and are Regional Quarterfinal Champs!
At halftime, all seemed well for Christoval as they had a 16-point lead, 31-15, but headed into the fourth quarter, the Roughettes cut that lead to seven, 37-30. Then, with 4:13 left in the game, Sundown was banging on the door as they cut the lead again, this time to two points.
Late late in the fourth quarter, the Lady Cougars were down two points, 44-42, with just over a minute left in the game. But in the end, the Lady Cougars came out on top, 48-44. Now, they are advancing to the Regional Semifinals and have a date with Farwell.
Halle “Full Metal” Hughes went, well Full Metal, and had herself a fantastic night, reaching a new career high of 27 points and four three pointers. She wasn’t the only player there that scored in the 20’s as Sundown’s Allie McCormick scored 24 and sank two three-point shots.
