Idaho Legislators Propose Death Penalty for Child S*x Crimes

BOISE, ID —A proposed bill in the Idaho State House is garnering attention for its attempt to address heinous crimes against minors through the introduction of the death penalty. The bill would allow capital punishment only for specific child sex abuse cases. It would also be unconstitutional. Despite criticisms, the bill aims to establish stricter consequences for those who commit acts of child sex abuse. Let's examine the key points in support of this legislation.

Recently a post on X went viral, claiming the bill would “give pedophiles the death penalty in legislation proposed in the Idaho statehouse, attracting national attention.

1. Legislative Initiative:

  • House Bill 515, introduced on Feb. 8, signifies a legislative effort to combat severe cases of child sex abuse by proposing the death penalty for certain offenses.

2. Focused Scope:

  • The bill doesn't target all pedophiles but specifically addresses cases of "lewd conduct with a minor child… under twelve years of age."
  • The death penalty is suggested only for cases involving victims under 12 years old, emphasizing the severity of crimes against the most vulnerable members of society.

3. Accountability and Deterrence:

  • Introducing the death penalty for extreme cases of child sex abuse serves as a deterrent and holds perpetrators accountable for their actions.
  • Supporters argue that such stringent measures can act as a powerful deterrent, potentially reducing the occurrence of these horrific crimes.

4. Legal Rationale:

  • While critics point to the 2008 ruling in Kennedy v. Louisiana, proponents contend that legal landscapes evolve, and the bill could present an opportunity for a reevaluation by a more conservative Supreme Court.

5. Upholding Justice:

  • The bill aligns with the principle of justice, providing a proportional response to crimes that cause immeasurable harm to innocent children.
  • Supporters argue that the death penalty is a just consequence for crimes deemed "especially heinous, atrocious, or cruel, manifesting exceptional depravity."

Hell yes!!! The death penalty isn't about revenge. It's a deterrent for the next POS that wants to harm a child.

Obviously these crimes are horrible and they need to be punished, but I got news for you buddy, the death penalty has been around for centuries, guess what? People still commit crimes 🤷
