Women from San Angelo & Brady Honored for Volunteer Work

 

AUSTIN – First Lady Cecilia Abbott, Honorary Chair of the Governor's Volunteer Awards, has proudly unveiled the recipients of the 40th Annual Governor’s Volunteer Awards, with a special emphasis on the extraordinary contributions of women from San Angelo and Brady. These awards, presented alongside OneStar Foundation, spotlight the exceptional dedication of individuals, groups, and organizations to Texas communities through their service and volunteering endeavors over the past year.

“I am thrilled to highlight the remarkable achievements of this year’s Governor’s Volunteer Awards recipients, marking 40 years of honoring outstanding volunteers,” expressed First Lady Abbott. “Their unwavering commitment reflects the true essence of Texas - strength, selflessness, and community leadership."

The recipients of the 40th Annual Governor’s Volunteer Awards include:

Jana Anderson (San Angelo): Volunteer of the Year Award Jana Anderson has emerged as a compassionate leader in Tom Green County, providing invaluable support to survivors of suicide and their families. Her dedication, marked by countless hours of volunteering and leadership, has made a profound impact on the community.

Katrina Huffman (Brady): AmeriCorps Legacy of Service Award Katrina Huffman's visionary leadership and unwavering passion have significantly addressed hunger-related issues in the Brady community. Her efforts, both as an AmeriCorps VISTA member and a dedicated volunteer, have positioned her as a catalyst for change in Brady.
