TYLER, TX — Pat Mahomes Sr., father of Kansas City Chiefs and former Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was arrested on Saturday night, February 3, for allegedly driving while intoxicated in Tyler, TX. This arrest comes just a week before his son’s fourth Super Bowl appearance against the San Francisco 49ers on February 11.
According to Smith County jail records, Mahomes is charged with driving while intoxicated 3rd or more. Mahomes Sr. has been charged with multiple DWIs since 2012, with the last one happening in 2018. Per court records cited by the Kansas City Star, Mahomes Sr. pled guilty to his DWI in 2018. He served 40 days in jail for the offense.
Mahomes Sr. played Major League Baseball for the Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, and the Pittsburg Pirates. He pitched in the MLB from 1992 to 2003.
His son, Patrick Mahomes, seeks his third Super Bowl title on Sunday, February 11, when the Kansas City Chiefs square off against the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas, NV. According to Vegas, the 49ers are currently two points favorites, with the over/under set at 47.5 points. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
