BALLINGER, TX — The TLCA San Angelo Eagles traveled to Ballinger on Friday, February 2, to play a district matchup against the Ballinger Bearcats. TLCA needed a district win to keep pace with the other leaders in the district as the 2024 season nears its end.
The Eagles jumped out to an early lead after excellent defense provided extra possessions in the first quarter. TLCA exploded from three, thanks to those extra possessions, as the Eagles jumped out to a 32-12 lead after the first quarter.
Ballinger reeled in TLCA in the second, but with just under three minutes left in the half, the Eagles took off again. Drew Sherrill and Luis Casillas fueled TLCA on offense right before halftime to give the Eagles a 52-21 lead at the break.
The Eagles came back strong after the half and increased their lead from that point forward. Ballinger took advantage of some late turnovers to put up quick baskets late in the fourth quarter, but the game was out of reach at that point. TLCA took care of business 85-38.
TLCA San Angelo’s head coach, Kent Sherrill, gave his thoughts on his team’s performance after the game. Watch the interview below:

The TLCA Eagles return to action on Tuesday, February 6, when they host the Coahoma Bulldogs in San Angelo. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
