LUBBOCK, TX - Lubbock Christian University (LCU) Director of Athletics, Andrew Sorrells, has announced the appointment of Jeff Maciejewski as the head coach for both the men's and women's golf teams, effective immediately. This promotion follows Maciejewski's service as the interim head coach for both programs since August 2023.
Maciejewski was an ace varsity golfer for San Angelo Central High School from 2014 to 2017 and would graduate that year and play college golf for Lubbock Christian University from 2017 to 2022. Maciejewski's love for golf began early on and intensified over the years. The San Angelo native described his childhood in a statement on his recruiting profile,
"My mom tells me that I learned to walk holding a golf club. I've been playing golf all my life and it's what I love to do most in the world. I have good golf genes. My dad played golf for the Univ. of TX and was a scratch golfer." He would go on to have success at LSU as a college golfer but eventually would realize his passion for the game had shifted toward coaching."
Jeff Maciejewski brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having been a member of the LCU men's golf team from 2017 to 2022. His collegiate career reached a pinnacle with a notable 12th-place finish at the 2022 Lone Star Conference Championship, where he achieved a season-best tournament score of 209 and a career-best 67 in his final collegiate round.
During his senior season, Maciejewski entered the LSC Championships with an impressive track record, completing 23 rounds with an average of 74.0 per round, leading the team. His performance included four rounds in the 60s and seven rounds at par or better, earning him the distinction of a two-time All-Lone Star Conference selection. Moreover, on September 19, 2019, Maciejewski secured the LSC Men's Golfer of the Week title after an eighth-place finish at the Farmer's Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational in Pueblo, Colo.
"I had a competitive drive as a player that I thought was unmatched until I began coaching… there is nothing more fulfilling than seeing that competitive drive come from the players," Maciejewski stated. "I am excited for the opportunity to take LCU golf to another level in the Lone Star Conference and build two teams (men's and women's) and do what I can as a coach to bring home more championships to LCU. Lubbock Christian has and always will be home to me and I couldn't be more excited to fill this role."
Maciejewski continued his involvement with the LCU golf program by serving as a graduate assistant coach during the 2022-23 season under former head coach Gary Belt. Belt expressed his enthusiasm for Maciejewski's promotion, stating, "I am so happy for Jeff… he is a fantastic choice for the job. He loves LCU and the golf program. His exceptional playing experience and love for the game will help him be a successful college coach."
Like his father, Maciejewski is sure to make a positive impact on the players he coaches and the people in his life. With a combination of outstanding playing experience and a deep passion for the game, Jeff Maciejewski is poised to lead the LCU men's and women's golf teams to new heights in his role as head coach. The CHS grad continues to represent San Angelo well with his strong work ethic, impressive leadership skills, and his knowledge, expertise, and passion for the game of golf.
