Engineer promoted to Water Utilities post

Allison Strube has been promoted from project engineer to assistant director of the Water Utilities Department for the City of San Angelo.

Strube will assist Water Utilities Director Bill Riley in the administration of the department’s operations, including water treatment, production, quality, reclamation and conservation; utility maintenance; and special projects. She will also evaluate capital improvement plans and recommend priorities and resource allocations for those infrastructure investments.

Strube replaces Russell Pehl, who was named City Engineer in June.

“It would be hard to imagine a more compelling time to be working for the Water Utilities Department,” Strube said. “Among the potential initiatives on our plate are direct potable reuse of wastewater, a revised water rate structure, infrastructure improvements, evaluating the capture of Red Arroyo stormwater, the Hickory Aquifer’s wellfield expansion, long-term water supplies and conservation incentives. I’m looking forward to providing engineering expertise and leadership to ensure San Angelo has the water it needs to always be a thriving community.”

Strube joined the City in 2012 as a project engineer in the Engineering Services Division. She has designed system improvements and evaluated infrastructure issues related to water and sewer, managed Capital Improvements Plan projects, and reviewed site development plans to ensure compliance with ordinances and other regulations.

She previously worked as a product engineer for Martifer-Hirschfeld Energy Systems. Strube graduated with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Texas Tech University, earning a 3.9 grade-point average and summa cum laude honors.
