San Angelo police are investigating why a dead person was inside a late model Jeep Cherokee behind Church’s Chicken Restaurant, 3006 Knickerbocker Rd. Saturday night.

Police spokeswoman Tracy Gonzalez said that there are no obvious signs of foul play, but police are keeping all options open. Several detectives and the CID unit were at the scene at 10:30 p.m. Saturday night continuing the investigation.

Gonzalez said that at 8:22 p.m., police were called to the scene and only told it was an “unknown problem.” The first officer on scene was flagged down as he was passing by. A citizen directed the police officer to the vehicle. There, the officer found a deceased male inside. Gonzalez said that police are not releasing the identify of the victim and next-of-kin have not been notified. Gonzalez said the approximate age of the victim is 30-40 years old.

Justice of the Peace Judge Eddie Howard pronounced the man dead and ordered an autopsy, Gonzalez said.
