SAN ANGELO – A Lubbock man charged with Capital Murder in San Angelo was booked into the Tom Green County Jail Friday and is being held on $1.5 million bond.
According to jail records, Joshua Tyler Garcia, 21, of Lubbock was booked into the TGCJ on a grand jury indictment warrant for Murder and Capital Murder by Terroristic Threat/Other Felony. Bond is listed at $500,00.00 for the Murder charge and $1,000,000.00 for the Capital Murder charge.
According to court documents, Garcia is accused of participating in the murder of Daniel Chandler in San Angelo in June of 2021. The alleged murder took place at a local hotel, the Inn on the Conchos. At the time of the murder police say they discovered Chandler's body with two bullet holes; one to the chest and the other to the abdomen.
Cody Salazar and Garcia, were charged with the murder. it is alleged that the two met with Chandler at the motel to make a drug deal. During the incident Salazar and another man had a shootout. This resulted in Chandler's death.
According to the Lubbock Police Department, back on January 18th of 2021 officers were dispatched to 45th Street for reports of a vehicle burglary.
When the responding officer arrived at the scene he located the suspect vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.
Garcia was a passenger in the vehicle and fired multiple shots at the officer’s patrol vehicle. The patrol vehicle was stuck and disabled, but the officer was not injured.
Garcia, now 21, was booked into the TGCJ at 1:04 p.m. Friday.
