SAN ANGELO, Texas – With Christmas approaching fast, The Salvation Army faces a challenge in meeting its 2023 red kettle fundraising target. The annual Red Kettle Campaign stands as The Salvation Army’s main fundraiser, channeling every donated dollar into impactful year-round programs benefiting San Angelo residents.
"We're falling notably short in our 2023 Red Kettle Campaign, striving to reach our $127,000 goal. Presently, we've gathered just over $50,000 with a mere 12 days of bell ringing left. We're hopeful the community will rally behind us in these final days," shared Major Alfonso Martinez of The Salvation Army. "The current economic climate has put immense pressure on families, forcing tough choices regarding rent, bills, and escalating food expenses. The Salvation Army offers ongoing support, but the funds from our red kettles are vital for these crucial services."
The familiar chime of Salvation Army bells will persist outside stores until Christmas Eve, with the organization banking on community support to bridge the fundraising gap. "Our community's generosity is always heartening. We deeply appreciate every donation," expressed Martinez. "The funds raised locally remain right here in San Angelo, enabling us to provide shelter during harsh weather for those experiencing homelessness, assist struggling families with utilities, and pave a path to self-sufficiency for months ahead."
Volunteers play a pivotal role in the red kettle campaign's success. It's not too late for individuals, families, groups, or businesses to sign up as volunteer bell ringers. Visit www.RegisterToRing.com to select your preferred location, day, and time to ring the bell.
"For those unable to physically ring the bell, our virtual kettle allows donations from the comfort of your home. Visit www.salvationarmysanangelo.org and choose 'Donate to Our Kettle.' Every contribution matters," highlighted Martinez.
Those interested in volunteering or seeking further information can reach The Salvation Army at (325) 655-6981, visit the office at 34 W 3rd Street, or explore www.salvationarmysanangelo.org. Your support this Christmas means the world to The Salvation Army.
