Fire Danger Gives Way to Possible Freeze Saturday & Rain Next Week

SAN ANGELO – A Fire Danger Statement has been issued for regions primarily located west of the Abilene to San Angelo to Ozona line due to dry, warm, and breezy conditions heightening the risk of fires. This afternoon poses elevated fire weather concerns in these areas.

Adding to the concern, a cold front is expected to sweep into the Concho Valley on Saturday, bringing temperatures below freezing on Saturday and Sunday nights.  Look for temperatures around 30 degrees both nights.

As the threat of drought persists and outdoor burning remains a hazard, it's crucial to exercise extreme caution.

Fortunately, relief might be on the horizon with another frontal system forecasted to bring significant rain chances to the area by mid-week.  Currently there's a 40% chance of rain beginning Wednesday.
