SAN ANGELO, TX — Laura Lee Lewis, 55, who served as Texas Sen. Charles Perry’s district director for the San Angelo area suddenly died in her sleep the evening of Nov. 28, 2023.
Lewis returned from Park City, Utah to San Angelo in 2011 to take care of her mother. At that time, she was completing a long and fulfilling career as a flight attendant with Delta Airlines. Lewis, who was smart and had an outgoing personality, secured a job as the VP of Member Relations for the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce in 2016. Two years later, when Pam Dutton retired, Lewis moved over the the Wells Fargo Building at 36 W. Beauregard Ave., to take over Sen. Perry’s district office as the district director.
During the multiple legislative sessions of 2023, Lewis was called to Austin to help Sen. Perry.
Lewis grew up in San Angelo and graduated from San Angelo Central High School before attending Angelo State University.
She was dating local attorney Joe Will Ross at the time of her death.
Lewis was the past president of the San Angelo Pachyderm Club and upon joining the board brought new energy to the club. She was also a tireless advocate for many charities and causes in San Angelo. There was never a heart as big as her smile. She gave everything thing she had to the San Angelo community.
Lewis had two brothers and two sisters.
