SAN ANGELO, TX — Last Saturday, the No. 20 Angelo State Rams climbed back to .500 with a dominant, 62-9, victory over the Western New Mexico Mustangs. The Rams went back to their bread and butter against the Mustangs and accumulated 557 total yards on offense, with 341 yards of that total on the ground. Head Coach Jeff Girsch held his weekly press conference at the Junell Center to talk about the much-needed victory and his expectations for the Rams against Eastern New Mexico on Saturday.

With the win, the Rams move on to another week in Lone Star Conference play. Angelo State travels to Portales, NM, to play the Eastern New Mexico this week. The Greyhounds run a traditional triple-option-styled offense, and Coach Girsch said that the Rams will have to be extremely disciplined on defense. The offense will need to take advantage of every opportunity they have on Saturday as Eastern New Mexico will try and control the clock and keep the Rams’ offense on the sideline.
Eastern New Mexico currently sports a 3-1 overall record with wins against New Mexico Highlands, Sul Ross State, and Western Oregon. The Greyhounds are 1-1 in Lone Star Conference play after they dropped the matchup against Midwestern State last Saturday.
Last season, Angelo State defeated Eastern New Mexico 28-9 in San Angelo. The Rams are 10-5 overall against the Greyhounds and currently ride a 2-game win streak going into Saturday’s matchup.
Angelo State plays Eastern New Mexico on Saturday, September 30. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
