Take a Stroll
The weather’s nice and you’ve been looking for an excuse to put on that new cardigan anyway, why not take a walk with the family after that big Thanksgiving dinner? Get some fresh air and move a little. You’ll feel better afterward!
Play a Family Favorite Game
Every family has its traditions, and some seem to get lost over the years. Remember that game your family always played when you were a kid and you were dying to play along? Well, bust out the Wahoo board—or whatever the case may be—and enjoy a good, family gaming competition.
Start a New Tradition
From a new day-after dish to a communal round of Christmas decoration making, find something new that you all enjoy doing together and start a new tradition. Be sure you follow up next year—it’s not as easy to remember when and what as you think.
Do a Good Turn
You’re bound to have tons of leftovers from Thursday’s affair or at least some change in your pocket. Find a way to work together as a family to help those less fortunate. Shelters and Toys for Tots programs will be out in numbers over the weekend, providing many opportunities to “pay it forward”.
Spend the Day Without Technology
Remember when there were no cell phones or internet and people actually communicated with one another? Well, your grandma does, and she’s been wondering for the past several hours why you need to have your iPhone in hand to hold even the shortest conversation. Shut it off. All of it. And spend the time with your family. A few days a year isn’t really that big of a compromise, is it? We promise, we’ll still be here tomorrow.
