Audio: Performing Artist Cody Canada on Touring with Old Friend Mike McClure

Chuck Baker who runs the morning show on KKCN 103.1 FM “Kickin’ Country” interviewed music performing artist Cody Canada just prior to his acoustic show at Blaine’s Pub tonight. Canada will be performing an acoustic show with Mike McClure.

Here’s the interview in from SoundCloud:

Together, Canada and McClure represent a large part of the emergence of the Red Dirt music scene born in Stillwater, Oklahoma that soon merged with the Texas Country music scene here. McClure was the front man for the former band The Great Divide.

“It’s been about four years since we were playing together and we decided to do it again,” Canada says in this interview.

The two meet in 1993 when McClure invited then 16-year-old Canada to get on the bus with them and tour.

Canada became the front man for the band Cross Canadian Ragweed in the 2000s and McClure joined the band as their producer starting with the third Ragweed record.

Today, Canada fronts his band, The Departed, and McClure tours with the Mike McClure Band.

Tonight, Cody Canada and Mike McClure take the stage at Blaine’s Pub, 10 W. Harris St., in San Angelo for an acoustic performance between two old friends. Food, catered by Chicken Express, is served buffet-style starting at 7 p.m. The show starts at 8 p.m. The show is part of the summer music series, Thursday Night LIVE! sponsored by San Angelo LIVE!
