NEW ENGLAND— The Texans first-round rookie quarterback made his NFL debut yesterday in the preseason against the New England Patriots.
The Houston Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud had a “shaky” start going 2-4 for 13 yards, and an interception on their way to winning 20-9 against New England. Stroud threw an interception on his first drive when Patriot’s corner Jalen Mills jumped the route.
The silver lining is that three starting offensive linemen did not play in left tackle Laremy Tunsil, right tackle Tytus Howard, and guard Shaq Mason.
Stroud is in competition with veteran Davis Mills, who went 9-12 for 99 yards and a touchdown. One rookie that did look good is Tank Dell, who caught five passes for 65 yards and the touchdown Mills threw to him.
The Texans open the season against the Baltimore Ravens on September 10, 2023.
