COLLEGE STATION, TX — Texas A&M landed a possible offense-shifting recruit recently. 5-star wide receiver Cameron Coleman from Phenix City, Alabama, committed to the Aggies on Tuesday. Coleman is the second-best wide receiver recruit in Texas A&M history.
Standing 6’3” and weighing in at 180 lbs, the young man from Alabama reps elite size along with his athletic ability. However, the scariest part is that Colman might not even be done growing. The Aggies' strength and conditioning staff will, of course, put some serious weight and muscle mass on the recruit whenever he arrives on campus, but with one more school year to go before he even graduates from high school, Coleman might grow even more.
According to the Top247 ratings, Coleman ranks as the 17th-best player in the nation in the class of 2024. Coleman attends Central High School in Phenix City, Alabama. According to Max Preps, the 5-star recruit had 31 catches for 542 yards and six touchdowns. He chose Texas A&M as his school of choice over other big names in the SEC, like Auburn, LSU, and Alabama.
"Shows the ability to create consistent separation with size, speed, quickness, and leaping ability," 247Sports national recruiting analyst Cooper Petagna said in an analysis. "[Coleman] plays above the rim down the field and possesses some of the best jump-ball ability of any pass-catching prospect in the country ... projects as an immediate contributor at the next level and a potential Day 1 NFL Draft choice."
In an interview with on3.com, they asked Coleman why he chose Texas A&M. “What stood out about Texas A&M was how I felt like home every time I went there,” Coleman said. “From the coaching staff, to spending time with my future teammates. We are all going to stop playing football one day, and that’s where the education aspect and Aggie Network comes into play, and it’s an amazing network,” Coleman said.
Aggies Head Coach Jimbo Fisher continues to build a strong recruiting class for 2024. Already Texas A&M has six other blue-chip recruits committed in addition to Cameron Coleman. Texas A&M officially rose into the Top 10 recruiting class for 2024 with the addition of its most recent 5-star commit.
