KANSAS CITY, MO — Kansas City Chiefs Star Tight End Travis Kelce recently responded to a comment the Cincinnati Bengals Wide Receiver Ja’Marr Chase made about Kelce’s quarterback. On the “New Heights” podcast that Kelce hosts with his brother, NFL player and Center for the Philadelphia Eagles Jason Kelce, Kelce went into detail about his thoughts on Chase’s comment, “Pat Who?”
Kelce said that he appreciates the fact that Chase was willing to go to bat for his own quarterback, Joe Burrow, but by putting down Mahomes, he better be ready to back up his smack talk. "It is what it is, dog. Who doesn't love some good locker room banter, man?" Kelce said. "Shoutout to Ja'Marr Chase for holding it down for his QB, but don't you ever disrespect Pat Mahomes, now…Just better back it up."

The burgeoning rivalry between the Bengals and Chiefs started when Cincinnati defeated Kansas City in the AFC Championship game back in 2022. The win sent Joe Burrow to his first Super Bowl appearance, where the Bengals fell to the Rams. The Chiefs struck back last postseason when the Chiefs defeated the Bengals in the 2023 AFC Championship game 23-20. Kansas City went on to win the Super Bowl over the Philadelphia Eagles last February.
"I thought it was a little bold," Travis Kelce said. "[Mahomes] is a two-time league MVP, two-time Super Bowl MVP. To say 'Pat who?' is like, I don't know." Jason Kelce agreed that the comment seemed “a little disrespectful.”

The comment sparked the former Texas Tech Red Raiders' Quarterback to respond. On his Twitter account, Mahomes posted a picture of himself and Travis Kelce at the Chiefs Ring Ceremony sporting his two Super Bowl rings. He captioned the picture with “That’s Who.”
Chase’s comments, while unwarranted towards Mahomes, show how he feels about his own quarterback—last season proved to be the best so far in Joe Burrow’s young NFL career. He finished the year as an NFL MVP finalist, made his first Pro Bowl, and set a franchise record for touchdowns in a season with 35. Burrow is on a rapid ascent through the NFL’s quarterback ranks and now only lacks an NFL MVP and Superbowl win. The Bengals should be dangerous again this season and will continue to challenge the Kansas City Chiefs for dominance in the AFC.
